US Space Command Star Wars Program

The United States of America has created a new federal agency called the US Space Command to institute a Nuclear Missile Shield Defence System dubbed Star Wars. The Star Wars program involves two main elements, the Hydrogen Nuclear Missiles in space, and the ground defence system.

The first part of the Star Wars plans involves placing hundreds of Hydrogen Missiles in space orbiting the earth remotelly controlled by American bases such as Pine Gap. These hydrogen missiles are made from enriched plutonium and are hundreds of times more powerful than the bomb that was dropped to end World War II. The US Space Command is responsible for fighting Space-to-Space, Earth-to-Space & Space-to-Earth wars using these nuclear hydrogen missiles.

The second part of the program involves the setup of a technological weapons shield with an early warning system, which is designed to automatically intercept any missile or object fired at any region covered by the defense shield. It does this by firing one of the on-hand missiles from either a US missile silo or one of the nuclear missiles orbiting in space at the "enemy" object to destroy it.

US bases in Australia such as Pine Gap are crucial to the defense shield aspect of the Star Wars program. This makes Australia complicit in the overall program. Meanwhile, Britain along with other European countries are refusing to particapate in the defense shield pointing to Nuclear Disarmament as the only solution.

Rather than being a defence against missile strikes it is likely to promote world-wide Nuclear War (WWIII?). It is in violation of the International Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty, which is the fundamental corner-stone treaty for all nuclear disarmament. The treaty allows the US & Russia to possess only 100 ballistic missiles each, thus providing each country with a limited defence against "accidental" Nuclear War. Each country was to rely on the logic of MAD (Mutually Assurred Destruction), which means that no country would launch a nuclear attack because of the assurity of them being wiped out by a nuclear counter-attack.

Disarmement was to be the ultimate form of protection against Nuclear annihilation. The Star Wars program is in direct opposition with the spirit of global disarmement. Russia and China have both stated that a Missile Shield would promote a new Nuclear Arms Race. This is because a Missile shield would be rendered inoperable by the development of new, and more powerful missiles and weaponry.

It dosen't seem to bother America that most experts claim that the system is innefective, cumbersome, over-costly and probably won't even work anyway. It is easy to see gaping faults in the program straight away, such as the fact that it would only take 1 or 2 correctly aimed missiles to take out the control centre's while a mass of decoy missiles were fired at another part of the shield and the entire system would go down leaving America completely vulnerable. This is a Stupid, Expensive and Dangerous Plan that should be opposed at every step of the way.
